Night World Book 1
 Secret Vampire
This story is about a girl named Poppy who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and is expected to die during the summer. Her best friend James has a secret, and that secret can save her life - but she would have to give up her old life entirely. Which means no more hard-core techno CDs, no more over-protective brother Phil, no more friends, and most of all, nowhere to call "home". But James can promise her a long life with him by her side. Oh, and it doesn't help that his cousin named Ash likes to stick his nose in everyone's business.

Daughters of Darkness
Three renegade vampire sister who leave their safe town to explore the world. The sisters left because Rowan, the oldest sister, was writing secret letters to their aunt Opal, and their aunt convinced Rowan and her sisters, Jade and Kestrel, to go with her and escape. But when they get to their new home, the discovered their aunt is dead. They meet their neighbors Mary-Lynette and Mark. As they try to solve the mystery about their aunt, they are being watched. And what they fear most is about to come - Ash, their brother. But will Ash take his sisters back home? Or will he find love in his heart for someone new?

Spellbinder
Two witches who go to live with their grandmother, who lives in Las Vegas, because they keep getting expelled from their other five high schools. Thea meets Eric in chapter two by healing  him from a snake bite, and from then on you know they're soul mates. But to prove that the soulmate principle wasn't true, Blaise tries to take Eric away by making a forbidden love charm. While the girls fight over Eric, The releases the wrong spirit from across the veil, and it's loose. To get it back, Thea thinks of an elaborate plan but she needs Eric's help. The evil spirit already killed one person, and wants to kill more. Will Thea break the bond she has with Eric forever? Will they die trying to put the spirit back? Will the Inner Circle find out she broke the Night World Laws for Eric?
In the end, the sacrifices everything.

My thoughts
  • I don't think there was any swearing in this book. I can't remember. Maybe once or twice but I don't remember.
  • The pace of each story was upbeat and kept you wondering because they are short stories after all.
  • L.J. Smith, in my opinion, writes a little mono-tone. Example: In Daughters of Darkness Jade tried to climb over a picket fence, and then it fell on top of her. I thought L.J. Smith could have played that up a bit more.
Overall I did like this book because I think for people who are just getting into fiction and paranormal books, this book explains a lot of things very clearly. L.J Smith is a good author, but she just needs to lighten up :P 752 pages sounds like a lot but you have to remember that it's three books within this one book. You can do it!

Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters - they live among us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And falling in loves breaks all of the laws of the Night World.
